Incredible news for fans of the doom archetype today as FFG released an update to the Taboo list. This update allows Blood of Thoth to generate 1 action faster than the previous every 4 round limit, and Mystic lovers know that can mean only thing. Amina players, get ready, because you are now going to be able to use those actions to fail even more skill tests each and every game!
Previous criticism of Blood of Thoth was that it felt too clunky and slow to let Amina Zidane players do what they loved to do most with their investigator, which is failing most skill tests when using cards in their own faction because of their 3 Willpower. However, FFG was quick to address this criticism right away. Now, players who use Blood of Thoth can more comfortably generate the actions needed to fuck up whatever they want, be it hitting an ally with Shrivelling or triggering Haunted with Clairvoyance!
“We usually play with Melissa, our Amina player,” said local Arkham Horror enthusiast, John Gershwin. “She’s a lot of fun, but whenever she would fail at an action, I would think, well that’s 33% of her turn gone. But now that Blood of Thoth is more playable, it’s not like that anymore. Now sometimes I think, hey, that’s 25% of her turn gone. And that’s awesome.”
“Also yes, I think she knows that she is allowed give the action to someone else but she’s also a Mystic player so I don’t think she’s ever going to do that.”
Local Stella player Harriet Laroux could only look at Melissa’s newly empowered deck with jealousy. “If I had a card like that in my deck, I would be unstoppable!” Harriet said. “But instead I’m pretty sure I’ve passed more tests than Melissa, just on accident of course. Oh well!”
“Me Mystic player, me surging with Taboo power!!” Melissa said, when asked for comment before immediately failing a Whispers of Doom test that she really should not have started in the first place.
At press time, Harriet had committed Take Heart to Melissa’s latest Clairvoyance test, allowing to her to finally draw the Elder Sign and pass something.
