Eagle-eyed fans of Arkham Horror: The Card Game’s narrative world were rewarded with a special lore treat during this year’s Mystic spoiler season as FFG finally introduced a version of Jim Culver which is playable.

“I used to play Jim Culver in games like Eldritch Horror and Mansions of Madness, so it’s exciting to finally be able to play Jim Culver in the card game and actually win something,” said Arkham Files fan Christopher Chestnut.

Designers from FFG were also quite excited by the release. “If players check their binders or storage solutions, they may be surprised to learn that we actually released Jim Culver a long time ago,” said Tim Polk from FFG. “To make Chapter 2 really stand out, we thought it would be fun to do a version of the character where you might want to put the card on top of your table instead.”

Analysts from Rite of Seeking also confirmed that the new Jim Culver ally card seems “nuts”, “broken”, and “you should absolutely play it”. These comments are much improved over those from the previous round of studies, which kicked off with the line “I already miss playing Agnes.”

“This Jim Culver card has everything you want,” said card evaluator Gina Simpson. “It’s got a willpower bonus, card draw, and a helpful amount of health and sanity. Honestly, it’s so cool to see FFG adding characters from the lore in this way. I’m excited to play this ally card with a Mystic investigator who is good.”

Our reporters also sought comments from other Mystic investigators for this article, but most were occupied with drawing -5 value Skulls and passing their Willpower tests anyway.
