Arkham Horror: The Card Game players are about to encounter a revolutionary design shift when they start playing with the Chapter Two Mystic cards. That’s right – players will be shocked to learn that Mystics can use their Willpower stat to Fight and Investigate. Sounds crazy, right? Apparently anything goes in Chapter 2!

“When I first picked up Dexter Drake, I thought great, he has 5 Willpower. That’s cool, but I know from reading the rules that he won’t be able to fight or investigate with that stat,” said William Connor, a new player. “Imagine my shock when I looked at the brand new player cards! You can both Fight and Investigate with your Willpower. Am I dreaming? This is insanity!”

“This is such an exciting fresh take on Mystic,” said longtime player Markus Wu. “Previously, we were trying to make Mystics work with Knives and Flashlights. We had no idea how to crack the deckbuilding puzzle presented by these characters or what creative solutions we could use to work with their statlines! But it sounds like FFG heard our cries and is introducing a new way to play Mystic in Chapter 2. Thanks, FFG!”

Designer Heather Morris had this to share. “We wanted to use Chapter 2 as an opportunity to explore some fresh design ideas. We looked at the Mystic class, and thought, what if these characters could use their Willpower to do things other than pass Treachery tests? For example, what if it could be used for Investigating or even Fighting? Would an idea as crazy as that break that game? Well, we decided to be bold and try it out. I think fans will be excited to explore these ‘Willpower-style’ cards in Chapter 2.”

At press time, it was still unclear if Mystics would ever be able to use their Willpower to Evade.
