Interesting! New reporting out of our Chapter 2 division has shown that the Marcus Sengstacke you played this turn has already been defeated. Apparently, you played him on your first action and then immediately autofailed the next two skill tests you attempted, causing your Ally to make an immediate one-way trip to your discard pile. Whoops! Hopefully, you did not need those three resources for anything useful!

“The intention of Marcus Sengstacke’s design is that he will generate resources as he stays alive in your play area,” said card designer Tom Rhys. “Unfortunately, this will never happen for you, as with your luck, you are doomed to start failing every test as soon as you play this guy. Sorry, but maybe you should just play Olivier or something.”

Your local Carolyn Fern player had this to add. “At first, I was excited to see Marcus Sengstacke played. As soon as I read that Forced effect on one of your cards, I knew this was going to mean horror for me to heal,” said your teammate, Sandra Norris. “However, he just exploded before I even got a chance to do my turn. Sorry, pal.”

Your plan to put down another Marcus Sengstacke and simply choose to not do any tests for a while was also thwarted when some other bullshit hopped out of the Mythos deck and caused you to discard him again.

Our analysts had this to say regarding your recent efforts. “Marcus Sengstacke has to survive for 3 full upkeep phases simply to break even after paying his initial cost,” said mathematics contributor Dana Hart. “After 4 rounds alive, he will net 1 bonus resource for you. Comparatively, another way to go up 1 resource is to take a single basic resource action, but I digress. Given that your luck is abysmal at the best of times, we do not see this card’s effect ever panning out for you. Perhaps an Emergency Cache would be nice instead. I hear those don’t need skill tests to work.”

At press time, your other friend who plays Rogue had generated 11 resources off of Marcus Sengstacke after playing him at the start of the game because of course he did.
