Exciting news for Chapter 2 players, as FFG has announced a new player card expansion, Power of the Dreamlands. This exciting 147 card deckbuilding expansion features thematic and powerful cards from different regions of the Dreamlands, which your Chapter 2 investigators can then take into a dingy sewer under Arkham to attack Elekoss for the 16th time.
“We know players love the vast and varied worlds of the Arkham Files universe,” said designer Pete Peterson. “That’s why we want to give players a taste of an exciting and vibrant region like the Dreamlands, which Chapter 2 players can then reflect upon when they go down into a dirty sewer to fight Elekoss yet again.”
“Whether you are playing Brethren of Ash for the first, tenth, or fiftieth time, these player cards will be a lot of fun for any Chapter 2 player,” Peterson continued. “And you could also use them in some other campaign if you had that I guess. Children of Blood, maybe. Sure.”
Some players expressed concern about the lack of new investigators in the pack, but FFG reassured the community that this is simply a creative design choice to aid immersion. “We had some exciting investigator designs, but these investigators are currently asleep in the lore,” said narrative expert Kent Bergenheim. “Mechanically, this is expressed by these new investigators not being in the box. Not to fret! A separate crowdfunder will be launched in 2027 to see if we can wake them up.”
“With this new content, veteran players will experience a little taste of what it’s like to return to the Dreamlands, but not in the way you’re thinking. It’s in a different way, where you don’t do that.”
When asked if there was any narrative cohesion to bringing weapons and spells from the Dreamlands into the sewers of Arkham, Bergenheim assured our reporters that it did make a lot of sense actually and if you didn’t like it, it’s only 3 scenarios long anyway.
Power of the Dreamlands will be available in early 2027.
